Suttiphat joined Siam Premier as a partner in 2005. Prior to this Suttiphat was the equity partner at Minter Ellison for four years following 10 years at Baker & McKenzie. Suttiphat graduated in 1982 with an LL.B. from Thammasat University, Thailand, and in 1984 became a Barrister-at-Law after graduating from the Institute of Legal Education. He continued his legal education at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas and in 1987, earned an LL.M. in Comparative and International Law. In 1989 he completed an LL.M. (Honors) in Financial Services Law at Chicago-Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago, Illinois. Suttiphat is a member of the Law Society of Thailand and an Ordinary Member of the Thai Bar Association.
Prior to joining Baker & McKenzie in 1990, Suttiphat worked as a Legal Officer at the Office of the Council of State (Juridical Council), Office of the Prime Minister of Thailand (part of which became the Administrative Court).
Suttiphat specializes in bank lending and other extensions of credit, structured finance, project finance, power and IT project works, debt restructuring, bankruptcy & insolvency, capital markets, securitization, mergers and acquisitions, telecommunication, governmental and consortium contracts as well as general taxation.
Suttiphat has extensive experience in lending transactions, particularly structured finance. He has represented banks and other financial institutions, including investment bankers. He has also represented many underwriters and various issuers in connection with debt/hybrid securities and has advised various listed/non-listed companies on corporate finance matters, insolvency, and debt restructuring. Suttiphat has represented a number of bidders/concessionaires in various government concession contracts.
He also has experience in capital markets transactions, ranging from IPOs, listings and strategic private placements and acquisitions.
Suttiphat has lectured at the Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy (BBA Program) of Thammasat University. He has also made presentations to the Asia Business Forum on finance and consumer protection laws. Suttiphat also participated in the In-House congress of 2003.
Some of Suttiphat’s most recent transactions include: the Suvarnabhumi Airport Information Mangement System (AIMS) project for his consortium clients, including Samart Comtech, financial institution product processing agreements for KrungThai Card (KTC), major asphalt refinery project in Malaysia for TIPCO Asphalt pcl, ongoing loan/debenture/ and derivative work for KTC, Padaeng, TIPCO Asphalt, ongoing bank lending transactions for Sumitomo-Mitsui Banking Corporation and Bangkok of Tokyo UFJ, general commercial work for GE Medical System Thailand and a vast number of Thai subsidiaries of Asahi Glass of Japan , corporate restructuring of major automobile part companies, and lately completion of the USD 460 million and Baht 9,969 million IPP project financing.
