Biography

As one of Thailand’s most respected litigators, Sumit has over 36 years’ experience in managing high-value and complex commercial and administrative disputes. Sumit’s opinion is often sought by large private and public sector clients on sensitive and multifaceted matters, when stakes are high. His practice focuses on disputes concerning employment law, business rehabilitation, bankruptcy law, construction, corporate, commercial and administrative matters. He also has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, including arbitration and mediation.

Sumit is regularly invited as a guest speaker and adjunct lecturer at various public and private universities and private sector events. He has served as Vice President to the Academic Affairs of the Lawyers Council of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, and is also a member of the Thai Bar Association.

He is ranked in Senior Statespeople for Employment in Chambers Asia Pacific (2026) and is recognized as a Recommended Lawyer in Dispute Resolution by Legal 500 Asia Pacific (2023).

Credentials

Representing numerous international and domestic employer companies in labour disputes at the Thai Labour Court.
Representing the Thai subsidiary of a European global automation company in arbitration proceedings in respect of a construction and international trade dispute on a gas pipeline project.
Representing international banks in taking security over assets by way of mortgage and pledge.
Acting for a foreign factory owner in relation to a claim arising out of a construction contract against the owner by a Thai contractor which included an ad hoc arbitration.
Acting for a Thai contractor in arbitration proceedings under the Thai Arbitration Rules in relation to a dispute with a Korean company concerning the sale and purchase of propylene.
