Biography

Somchai is a skilled and experienced litigator, having achieved numerous negotiated and litigated outcomes for large foreign and domestic clients, including in relation to sensitive labour and employment, telecommunications, banking, and business rehabilitation matters.

Somchai regularly advises and represents clients on complex disputes in all major Thai courts concerning criminal and civil law, public law, corporate and commercial matters, labour and employment law, bankruptcy and reorganization law. His experience in ADR extends to mediation, conciliation and arbitration. Somchai was admitted to the Lawyer’s Association of Thailand in 2000, and also holds a Notarial Service Attorney License and Labor Relations Advisor License.

He is ranked in Employment (Band 2) by Chambers & Partners Asia Pacific (2023).

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

  • Representing an international bank in a civil case (wrongful act) in the Bankruptcy Court in relation to claims exceeding THB 100 billion.
  • Representing a Thai state-owned telecommunications company in a rehabilitation case of a telecommunications company with the total claim amount exceeding THB 20 billion.
  • Assisting a large regional logistics company in labour and employment matters in relation to a corporate restructuring and downsizing.
  • Representing a Swiss global jewelry and watch manufacturing company in separate employment claims in the Labour Court including criminal claims against an employee.
  • Acting for the Thai subsidiary of a gulf state owned enterprise in defence of employment claims concerning alleged unfair termination and severance pay disputes in the Labour Court.
